The Clan Society was formed in 1998 with the official approval of the Clan Chief, Madam Mac Dougall of Mac Dougall.
The Society is a fraternal, non-profit organization with an established constitution, whose aims are,
Allegiance and loyalty to the Chief of the Clan Mac Dougall.
Promotion of the Clan and its heritage, the Oban area and Scotland.
Promotion and sustainability of the Clan Mac Dougall Society.
Creating enterprising projects for members and younger members.
Supporting the efforts of International Clan Mac Dougall Societies where we have strong links.
Supporting the preservation of literary, historical and genealogical records, documents and relics relating to the Clan and Scotland.
Developing educational scholarship programmes for students whose families are confirmed members of the Clan Society.
The Clan is one of the oldest in Scotland and takes its name from Dugall, son of King Somerled a warrior from a Norse royal house who held sway over a large portion of western Scotland and who controlled an impressive navy.
Over the years numerous castles were established and many still remain, the Clan seat is Dunollie, Oban, Scotland.The Clan Society can provide more detailed information on the clan and clansfolk historically linked with this proud clan. Check our list, if your name or dependent name is listed you are entitled to qualify for membership of the Clan Society. In so doing you will have access to our international gateway that represents our "world family". Society benefits like invitations to events, gatherings, holidays, books, clan merchandise unique to your own clan, clan newsletter is also available to members. Our Clan gift shop offers a range of attractive products and special offers.Your Society, in association with the Clan Chief at Dunollie, will support the planned Homecoming 2009 Scottish event in July 2009. We invite and encourage clan folk to join in the celebrations to be held at Dunollie and then at the Royal Holyrood Park Site in Edinburgh. The Society offers a periodical publication hosting news, events and clan historical features. The Society’s Gift Shop provides a range of clan merchandise and new clan products are constantly being produced. Ideal gifts for family, friends and special occasions.
An upcoming Society clan event is presently being planned for later in 2012 to be held in the historical city of York. And we encourage clan members to offer other regional venues for future Society clan events.
Such events offer members the opportunity of exploring ancestral roots and meeting fellow clan persons and developing close friendships.
